Social Media Sites: Digg, Digg, Del.icio.us & StumbleUpon

January 28, 2008 · No Comments

Social media sites including Digg, Del.icio.us and StumbleUpon will be the focus of the next series of marketing posts. Each of these three social sites can be geared to give your sites and business a significant boost.

Getting placed on the first page of Digg will earn your site a nice increase in unique visitors and hopefully begin a viral campaign through the blogosphere. Getting your article or post on the front page of Digg will also produce great links to your site increasing your visibility to Google and improving your rank. Take note though that Digg has changes it’s original algorithm, where there is greater weight placed on articles with a diverse crowd, rather than all your friends voting for your article.

You can view the article on Digg’s new algorithm here at Mashable.

StumbleUpon contains a toolbar that will show you if other stumblers have already rated the site. The higher ranked it gets on StumbleUpon the more visible it will become to Stumblers.

For Del.icio.us (Yahoo! owned), Yahoo! is testing incorporating Del.icio.us bookmarks within the search results. More bookmarks for your site will mean an increase in visibility for Yahoo! and an increase in Yahoo!’s search results.

We will continue to find relevant information and marketing tips to leveraging Social Media Sites in future posts.
